Two-pulse interference and superluminality
نویسندگان
چکیده
We examine how the interference of a coherent light-pulse with its slightly time-delayed copy may generate a pulse nearly identical to the original one and ahead of it. The simplicity of this 2-pulse system enabled us to obtain exact analytic expressions of the pulse distortion, valid for a wide class of pulse shapes. Explicit results are given for the pulses usually considered (gaussian, hyperbolic secant) but also for more realistic pulses of strictly limited duration. We finally show that the efficiency of the 2-pulse system is comparable to that of the other superluminal systems, at least for the pulse advancements actually demonstrated in the optical experiments. On the Velocity of Pulsed Beams
The problem of the superluminal wave propagation has investigated s and discussed by many researches in recent years. Actually there are at least three different questions that concern superluminality. At first what is it the velocity of a beam? Then why is the superluminality calculated only for pulsed beams with comparable spatial width and length? At least how numerous experimental measureme...
متن کاملA Review of Superluminality in Regions of Anomalous Dispersion
When an object or signal traverses a distance, L, faster than t = L c , it is said to have travelled superluminally. There are many methods employed to achieve optical pulse propagation velocities greater than c. These methods include tunnelling barriers [11][19] and regions of anomalous dispersion between to gain peaks [7]. It is well known that pulses of light can achieve speeds greater than ...
متن کاملNegative Group Delay and Superluminal Propagation: An Electronic Circuit Approach
We present a simple electronic circuit which provides negative group delays for band-limited, base-band pulses. It is shown that large time advancement comparable to the pulse width can be achieved with appropriate cascading of negative-delay circuits but eventually the out-of-band gain limits the number of cascading. The relations to superluminality and causality are also discussed.
متن کاملNature of "superluminal" barrier tunneling.
We show that the distortionless tunneling of electromagnetic pulses through a barrier is a quasistatic process in which the slowly varying envelope of the incident pulse modulates the amplitude of a standing wave. For pulses longer than the barrier width, the barrier acts as a lumped element with respect to the pulse envelope. The envelopes of the transmitted and reflected fields can adiabatica...

In this study, simple, fast and reliable cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), square wave voltammetry (SWV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods were developed and validated for determination of bosentan in pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed methods were based on electrochemical oxidation of bosentan at platinum electrode in acetonitrile solution containin...
